How to turn Wi-Fi on or off on your phone
Wi-Fi lets your phone use the internet at home without using up your mobile data. It turns on and off in one gesture.
On an Android phone
- 1Swipe your finger from the top of the screen downwards: a panel with small icons appears.
- 2Look for the Wi-Fi icon: it looks like a fan of stacked half-circles.
- 3Tap it to turn Wi-Fi on or off.
- 4Coloured icon: Wi-Fi is on. Grey icon: it is off.
On an iPhone
- 1Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen (or up from the bottom on an iPhone with a round button).
- 2Tap the Wi-Fi icon: when it is blue, Wi-Fi is on.
- 3To turn it off completely, go to Settings, then Wi-Fi instead.
Good to know: If the internet stops working at home even though Wi-Fi is on, turn Wi-Fi off and on again. That often solves the problem.
