How to turn your phone off and on again
A slow phone, a frozen app, sound that stopped working: restarting the phone fixes lots of small problems. You don't lose anything by doing it.
On an Android phone
- 1Press and hold the Power button on the side for 2 seconds.
- 2A menu appears. Tap "Restart", or "Power off".
- 3If you chose "Power off", wait 10 seconds once the screen is black.
- 4To turn it back on, hold the Power button until you see the brand's logo.
On an iPhone
- 1Hold the side button and either volume button at the same time until you see "slide to power off".
- 2Slide the button to the right. Wait 30 seconds.
- 3To turn it back on, hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
Good to know: On some Android phones, holding the Power button starts the voice assistant. In that case, hold Power and Volume up together to show the menu.
